2face Idibia drops #BringBackOurGirls song titled "Break The Silence"

06 June 2014
As the global plea for the release of more than 200 abducted Chibok girls continues, award winning artiste, 2face Idibia has joined the list of concerned artistes strongly advocating for the safe release of the abducted girls
and restoration of peace and unity in Nigeria

The talented Nigerian artiste in collaboration with other music artistes like Precision Productions and Machel Montano from Trinidad & Tobago; Samini, K-Slim, PKD, Squadee from Ghana, Spyke, Sound Sultan, Essence, Righteous-man, Joe El and Ferre Galo from the Republic of Congo has released a music video titled "Break the Silence".
This single is coming at a very crucial time when Nigerians need to unite in the fight against the activities of the infamous Boko Haram sect.
According to Idibia, "The song is a call for the safe return of the Chibok Girls and real work towards peace building which must be sustained and also a step in the journey towards the promotion of peace and unity in our nation and the world."
The music video, was recorded under the umbrella of Idibia's Million Voices for Peace (MVP) project to help raise funds to support the work of the Nigerian Red Cross.
Meanwhile, while speaking on the song, the executive director of Spaces for Change, a Nigeria-based policy advocacy group, Mrs. Victoria Ohaeri said there is need to go beyond the social media hashtag campaign to bring back the abducted girls as dealing with Boko Haram-led terrorism in an environment of government corruption and human rights abuses, is unlikely to yield lasting peace and positive outcomes.
"The Boko Haram insurgency is not a regional crisis. Therefore, to win the war against festering insecurity, the Boko Haram insurgency must be viewed as an urgent national crisis requiring a comprehensive national response to the situation," she added.
She further disclosed that this conclusion was reached by the Citizens Forum, comprising legal experts, human rights advocates, community leaders, students, public servants, security operatives, media professionals, concerned citizens and civil society organisations, who decided to unite to take the anti-terror campaign beyond the streets and online action.
